Welcome to Stavanger

Stavanger Centre by air
Stavanger is an interesting city with much history, beautiful scenery and steadily expanding cultural, retailing and business activities.

In the Viking Age more than a thousand years ago, Norway was united into a single realm at the battle of the Hafrsfjord outside Stavanger.
Ever since that time, people have met, traded and settled in our city. It ranks now as the fourth largest urban centre in Norway, with roughly 140.000 residents.

The fish and oil industry has made Norway and Stavanger prosperous, and given our region an international character.
Getting here is easy by air, rail, road and sea, both from the rest of Norway and abroad.

Daily direct flights link Stavanger with such cities as London, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Aberdeen and Frankfurt, while weekly direct services are provided to Rome and Paris.
